English: .svg) .svg) A realistic lift distribution over the wing of an aircraft. The continuously-changing lift distribution causes the shedding of a vortex sheet whose strength varies span-wise. The generation of negative lift at the tail and the reduction of lift around the fuselage cause the shedding of vortices rotating in the direction opposite to that of the tip vortices. The vortex sheet often eventually rolls-up into two distinctive tip vortices that decay due to viscosity.Français : Une distribution de portance réaliste sur l’aile d’un appareil. Le changement continu de portance le long de l’aile provoque l’apparition d’une "feuille de tourbillons" (anglais: vortex sheet) d’intensité variable derrière l’aile.
La génération de portance négative sur la queue et la réduction de portance à proximité du fuselage provoquent l’apparition de tourbillons tournant dans le sens opposé aux tourbillons marginaux. Au final, la "feuille de tourbillons" s’enroule souvent sur elle-même pour ne plus laisser que deux tourbillons marginaux puissants dans le sillage de l’avion. Ces tourbillons finissent par se dissiper sous l’action de la viscosité. |
