Summary

Description
English: Admiralty Incline, Isle of Portland When the Portland Harbour breakwaters, seen in the background, were built in the middle of the 19th century, much of the stone was taken from quarries in the north-east corner of the Isle. It was lowered down this incline, which was then a continuation of the quarry tramways but is now a road to the east end of the dockyard.
