English: A view of Whitehall, looking south, in 1740. The Banqueting House is on the left. The Holbein Gate across the street was removed in 1759 and Whitehall and its continuation Parliament Street are now roughly the breadth of the section of road in the foreground all the way to Parliament Square.

Appears to be a coloured-in version of John Maurer's engraving "A perspective view of Whitehall", which appeared as Plate 24 of the 1754-5 edition of John Stow's "A Survey of the Cities of London and Westminster"; cf Government Art Collection copy
The Royal Academy lists the same work as Plate 1 of a bound set of twelve plates, first issued in 1740. (RA accession number 06/3121)
