Summary

Description
English: Railways and Tramways of Việt Nam

A Decauville 0-4-0 hauls a freight train along the original 0.6m-gauge Phủ Lạng Thương-Lạng Sơn line, from Vola Family Photos of Indochina around 1880, railroad building to Lang Son (Collection Julie Vola)

The 600-mm-gauge Decauville 4.5t 0-4-0T (020T, B n2t) type 3 locomotive N° 40 "Amiral Courbet" was sent to Hà Nội in early 1887, along with two wagons and 1,650 m of track, to give rides to visitors at the Hanoi Exposition of March-April 1887.

The Exposition was held in the Camp des Lettrés (now the site of the National Library on phố Tràng Thi) and the railway line took passengers to and from the southeast gate of the Citadel.

After the Exposition closed, the Decauville rolling stock and equipment was sold to the Protectorate of Tonkin, and in 1889 it was sent to the Phủ Lạng Thương to Lạng Sơn railway.
