Summary

Description
English: This image shows a simulated trace on a WWII-era ASV Mark II radar system. The trace starts at the bottom of the display and moves towards the top, with signals from reflections causing the beam to deflect to the left or the right depending on which of two antennas it was received on. In this case we see a target about nine miles distant to the right of the aircraft. At the bottom, the triangular pattern is caused by reflections off the water near the aircraft, obscuring any target within about 1000 feet of the aircraft.
