Summary

Description 80-G-45376: Family of S1/C Johnnie D. Hutchins who was mortally wounded on September 4, 1943 when he turned LST-473 from the path of Japanese torpedo. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. Shown: Standing in front of the Hutchins cottage at Lissie, Texas. Left to right: Johnnie Marin Hutchins, Mrs. Hutchins, Fay Etta, Elizabeth, Elsie and Howard in front of their parents twin sisters Myrtle and Marion. Photograph released April 26, 1944.
