Summary

Description
English: Distinctive Unit Insignia for the 401st Glider Infantry Regiment, United States Army. The blue of the shield represents Infantry; the wedge-shaped device is symbolic of the entrance into enemy territory, the engrailed lines being the heraldic representation of clouds of air and alludes to the airborne functions of the Regiment. The pelican heads are representative of the state of activation, Louisiana. The motto is expressive of the characteristics of the personnel and refers to the principle symbol of the shield. The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 13 November 1942. It was rescinded on 2 February 1959.
