Summary

Description South Bank Parklands, opened in 1992 on the Expo 88 site, is the city’s playground with landscaped parkland along a 1-kilometre boardwalk, swimming lagoons and beach, rainforest, entertainment venue, restaurants, cafes, shops and weekend markets. In former times the riverfront, once a hive of activity with wharves, industries, boarding houses and a fish market, had declined by the 1970s.
