The FX4 replaced the FX3 in 1958 and went through quite a few changes until replaced by the more modern looking TX1 in 1997. (a TX1 is next to the FX4 in the photo)
From 1958 it ran an Austin 2178cc diesel engine.
from 1962 a 2199cc petrol engine was also available
In 1969 the roof mounted indicators (like rabbits ears) were replaced by conventional ones.
In 1971 the Diesel engine was increased to 2520cc
1973, the petrol engine gone, it got rubber overriders and push button door handles
In 1982 Austin was taken over by British Leyland, so now the Land Rover 1186cc diesel engine was used. (the FX4R)
Capacity increased to 2495cc in 1985
Larger 5 passenger body in 1987 (FX4S-Plus)
