Summary

Description

DeTomaso was an Italian company known for producing sports and luxury vehicles. The 1st Sports car was the 1963-66 Vallelunga with mid mounted Cortina engine. The 2nd was the Mangusta, built from 1966-1971, with help from Carroll Shelby, it had mid mounted 289 Ford V8 engine (until 1968, then 302) The 3rd, the 1971-93 Pantera with 351 Cleveland Ford V8. Unlike the Mangusta, which employed a steel backbone chassis, the Pantera was a steel monocoque design. 7260 were made. The Luxury Pantera L was introduced in 1972, it featured large black bumpers and the GTS with even more luxury in 1974. In 1975, the GT5, which had rivetted wheelarch extensions and the GT5S model which had blended arches and a distinctive wide-body look
