Marking the first encounter between top Canadian professional players and the Soviet Union's national team, the series aroused fervent passions in both countries as these two rivals, representing different styles of play, clashed on the ice. Millions of Canadians were riveted to their televisions, coming together to cheer for their team. In Moscow, Team Canada gained a dramatic come-from-behind series victory by scoring the winning goal with only 34 seconds left in the final game.
