The Bellett was built from 1963-73, it replaced the Hillman Minx, built under a license agreement with the Rootes Group, and in turn was replaced by the Isuzu or Holden Gemini. It was available in 2 or 4 door sedan and coupe. To start with it got a 1500cc 4 cyl The Bellett GTwas launched in 1964, a two-door coupé. In 1966, the front fascia was facelifted and the GT got a 1600cc SOHC engine A hotter GTR was added in 1969 In 1970, the GT and GTR got an 1800cc engine In 1971 the Bellett range underwent a second face lift This Bellett sedan competed in the 1966 Gallaher 500 Race at Bathurst, driven by George Reynolds and Barry Ferguson, they finished 21st, but 5th in Class B, $1800 to $2000 |
