English: The Allentown Paint Company was founded in 1855 by Jacob Breining. It produced paints under the names Breining and Allentown Paint. It also made products that were sold under a variety of names by other paint companies. The company had a "Paint Mobile" equipped with samples of all kinds so homeowners could make their selections at home.
The sign in the photo above was designed by artist Jim Musselman, who was in advertising for many years. He later ran the art department at William Allen High School. The arts center building at Sixth and Hamilton streets in Allentown is named in Jim's honor, and a huge piece of sculpture dedicated to Jim graces the lawn at his high school. He died in August 2014 at the age of 99.
