Summary

Description
English: 1924 Aston Martin sidevalve 4-seat tourer, chassis 1949, [1]. This is a "Lionel Martin" with original bodywork (rare), "XX 3380" (s/n 1949) was made in 1924 at 53 Abingdon Road, Kensington, London. The last of 26 cars built by Bamford & Martin Ltd. "Priced at £720, 'XX 3380' was sold by London agents G.L. Francis of 110 Great Portland Street on 5th March 1925. Little is known about the car until it was purchased by C.L. Christiansen in 1949 and restored privately over the following 5 years. The car was then used as family transport until 1957 when it was put into storage for the next 47 years."[2]. Christopher J. Lendrum, chairman of the Aston Martin Heritage Trust then owned it, had it restored by Ecurie Bertelli Ltd.[3] These early cars all had the same four cylinder 1486 cc side valve engine with what at the time would have been a heady power output of around 40 bhp allowing for a top speed in the region of 77 mph[4]
