Summary

Description
English: A South Indian painting now at the V&A Museum, United Kingdom, as Item IM.418-1923
  • The painting shows Brahma – a 4-headed deity of Hinduism, with Saraswati in his lap, riding on his vahana called hamsa. It is depicted a more goose-like mythical bird with flowery tail. It wears jewelry just like Brahma and Saraswati. In the north India Kashmir- and Punjab-area tradition, the pre-19th century paintings show a white swan-like bird.
  • This is a photograph of a 2D artwork created c. 1825 CE, and therefore wikimedia commons' PD-Art guidelines apply. Any rights I have as a photographer, I herewith donate to public domain (CC0 1,0) through wikimedia commons.
