| Description |
English: This is a design drawing of the Krupp 17 cm L/25 gun. At the time it was called 'long' to keep it apart from the previous shorter 17 cm guns. When even longer variants appeared later on, the designation was not that clear anymore.
The model, i.e. the length of the gun was verified by rotating the barrel to a horizontal position and then comparing the barrel length to the carriage length based on (x,y) coordinates. The calculation was a surprising fit within a centimer, 4.26 vs 4.25 m.
Nederlands: Tekening van de 17 cm A No.1, gebruikt aan boord van de Atjeh's. De tekening is van 1876 of daarvoor, zie ook de Engelse wiki over de Atjeh klasse.
Toen de 17 cm A No.1 ingevoerd werd, was er maar één model van. Er waren daarom maar weinig vermeldingen van de exacte lengte van dit kanon. Dit is lastig, omdat er later langere en nog langere 17 cm kanonnen verschenen. Deze technische tekening spreekt echter voor zich, het is een L/25 ofwel 17 cm A No.1. Dit blijkt als de tekening bewerkt wordt. Als het kanon in een horizontale positie gezet wordt, dan blijkt dat o.b.v. (x,y) coordinaten van de tekening, het kanon gerelateerd aan de gegeven lafette lengte van 3.805 m, 4.26 m lang. Ofwel, dit is duidelijk een L/25 versie van dit kanon. |
