Description

Langeac is a commune in the Haute-Loire department in south-central France.

It is located around 30 km west of Le Puy-en-Velay, and around 100 km south-west of Lyon.

In 1010 , Pons de Gevaudan gives the church of Saint-Gal in the chapter of Saint-Julien de Brioude .

The priory of Saint-Gal is in 1220 . It depends on the abbey of La Chaise-Dieu. He had to be given before that date by the Chapter of the Abbey Brioude casadéenne.

At the xiii th century , Langeac is the site of an archpriest of the diocese of Clermont with authority over 70 parishes.

In 1264 , the bishop of Clermont , Guy de La Tour du Pin, established a chapter of fifteen canons in the church Saint-Gal by not taking into account the rights of the abbey of La Chaise-Dieu. It goes result in a conflict between the two authorities. An agreement is reached by the canons set by the prior to which they have loyalty.

The Diocese of Saint-Flour on which Langeac is created by 1317 .

In June 1319 , King Philip V the Tall Langeac confirmed as provost of the Bailiwick of Auvergne.

After 1397 , the recipient of Auvergne Berthon Sannadre indicates that Langeac is one of the 13 best cities ( = good city walled city with city, militia and privileges under the protection of the King ) Lower Auvergne.
