Ellise Mariana Gitas (10 September 1998), better known as Ellise, is an American singer-songwriter.[1]

Early life[edit]

Ellise was born Foster City, California.[2] Her mother moved to the United States from Iraq at 15 years old.[3] She grew up living with her parents and younger brother, who is also a producer and musician.[4][5] After attaining her high school diploma from Monte Vista High School, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a singer, when she was age 17.[6]

Career[edit]

Ellise began her career at age 16.[1] She has so far released four extended plays (EP), two studio albums, and a number of singles.

2016:

In 2016, she was selected for the UPROXX Uncharted series.[7][6] She worked with producer Chris Seefried in the series to create her debut single, Break Down.[6] She was also a finalist of the 2016 IHeartRadio Rising Star Competition.[8][9] In July, she performed at her first major concert at an unveiling of new rides at Luna Park.[10][11] She released her second single, titled Dominoes and the music video was directed by Paul Boyd.[2]

2018 - 2019:

In 2018, she left her former record label, Grange records. During this period, she independently released singles Love Made Me Do It, Fight, and Pinky Promise. Tracks Nightmares and 911 enjoyed the most success.[12] This was followed by the release of her 4-track EP, Can You Keep A Secret.[13] In 2019, she released the halloween themed single Under My Bed. Her brother produced some of these tracks.[4]

2021:

In 2021, she got signed to Empire Records,[14] under which she released her debut album Chaotic.[13][15] She was featured in Iggy Azalea's album The End of an Era, on the track titled Day 3 in Miami.[16][17] She released the halloween EP under Empire Records, Letting The Wolf In.[18][19][20] In November, she collaborated with DeathbyRomy and Mothica on Soul Sucker pt 2.[21][22] She was featured by Savage Ga$p on his debut album title track The Long Halloween.[23]

2022 - 2023:

In 2022, she signed to AWAL. Erik Ron produced Black Balloons, and in 2023, Half A Heart.[24][13] She also released the single Did It Hurt in 2023.[22] Also in 2023, she alongside Ashley Sienna, collaborated on the song Pretty In The Dark,[25] and then on Pity Party with Neoni.[26]

Influences[edit]

She names Ariana Grande, Lorde, Lana Del Rey and Melanie Martinez as her inspiration.[27][28] According to Paper Magazine and Wonderland Magazine she makes "dark pop".[20][21]
