Durai Vaiko (born 2 April 1972) is an Indian Political Leader and the son of Vaiko, founder of Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK).[1] He was appointed as the MDMK principal secretary of the party, one of the party's star campaigners and leads the internet wing for MDMK.[2][3] [4] His political career came into limelight when his father contested the Lok Sabha election from Virudhunagar constituency in 2014.[5] He graduated with an MBA. He was married to Geetha on 29 November 1998.[6]

COVID-19 Medical Camp[edit]

Durai set up a medical camp in Ezhayirampannai, Alankulam, Sathirpati, Padandhal and Sattur in Virudhunagar District during COVID second wave.[7]

COVID-19 First Wave[edit]

During the first wave of the coronavirus, Durai Vaiko volunteered as a driver, risking his life to support frontline warriors such as doctors and nurses. He dedicated himself to this work for three months, which was appreciated by Dr. Shanta Amma, the director of the Cancer Institute (WIA).

COVID-19 Second Wave[edit]

During the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, medical assistance was provided to the general public in five locations in the Sattur constituency by establishing service centers

Environmental Activities[edit]

He played a significant role in promoting the concept of Miyawaki forests in Sivakasi of Tamil Nadu. Having Tamil Nadu Ministers KKSSR Ramachandran and Thangam Thennarasu present at the campaign likely provided it with governmental support and visibility. He is encouraging to see efforts being made to promote greener and social initiatives.

The initiative to restore the ecological balance of the Chennai Mudukkadu region, which had been designated as a vital part by the Indian government (ICMBA), began by reclaiming the total acquisitions with the assistance of the green resolution, restoring the water levels of Mudukkadu to their former state. Recently, the MDMK party, along with its cadres and local community activists, garnered acclaim for their work, which includes rejuvenating a 36-acre plot of land, now designated as a reserve by the Department of Forestry, by creating small forests.
