The Expedition to Gotland (1446) was an armed expedition initiated by King Christopher of Bavaria to Gotland, which was at the time controlled by the ex-king, Eric of Pomerania

Background[edit]

Ambitions over Gotland[edit]

In one of Christopher of Bavarias promises as king, he pledged to recapture Gotland and hand it back to Sweden. It is also of importance to the Kalmar Union to not allow Gotland to fall into non-nordic hands.^[1]^[2]
