How you will decide about the winners?[edit]

The main drive page lacks info regarding this! Will the editorwith most articles created get the prize? Or will the greater number of expanded articles will? "overall quality and quantity of information" - This needs elucidation, with quantity, is it referring to number of bytes added? Faizan 15:23, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Faizan:, the judging criteria will cover the scope mentioned in the details:
  1. Total number of articles created (only the articles on cultural heritage sites will be considered). You can create an article on any of the sites/monuments/buildings etc in the region-wise lists. (Scope #1)
  2. Total number of sites expanded in the lists. You will note that in the region wise lists mentioned in scope #2, many sites do not have coordinates, addresses, references, categories etc or the information provided is incomplete. Editors are expected to mention the total number of sites for which they have added this information.
Please note total number of edits will not be counted (since they also include minor edits such as spelling correction, punctuations etc.) I hope this answers your question. Samar Talk 15:55, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
And who are the judges? From where they will keep a track of the users' contributions, for example, an "Entries/Progress" section should be there, where users can add up their contributions. Faizan 15:58, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Please see the event's page, hope that has clarified things. The participants will record their figures themselves and User:Saqib and I will monitor. Samar Talk 16:02, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, most of questions have been answered. They ought to deliver us the message earlier rather than delivering it on the day the event actually started. Thanks, anyhow. Faizan 16:09, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, we were having some trouble with the mass message delivery. This is a month long drive, ending on July 31st, so there is ample time for contributions. :) Samar Talk 16:17, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Samar, can the scope of the substantial contributions be expanded? Foe example, I created 8 templates, can these be counted please? Faizan 16:45, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The purpose of this competition is content creation and content expansion on topics related to Pakistani Cultural Heritage as mentioned in the scope. Very little data is available online and offline so our aim to provide information about these sites. However you can surely add the templates you created separately in the page, we will be looking at the overall contributions. Samar Talk 18:52, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Faizan, please try to focus on scope. While I appreciate your created templates but I'm more in favour of expanding our lists and creating articles. Anyways, you better expand lists instead of expanding templates that you created. --139.190.143.231 (talk) 19:13, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah sure. Come on sign up now. Faizan 19:29, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm absolutely fine dear. --139.190.143.231 (talk) 19:44, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Competition scope[edit]

Salamu Alikum! Will you please elaborate a little about this activity, i am bit of a confuse. Second i want to know that the List of cultural heritage sites in Pakistan contains 8 links, so is it like we have to make articles or contributes on mention cultural sites in each link, e.g in List of cultural heritage sites in Punjab, Pakistan first site was Lala Rukh's tomb so as there is no article by such name, can i continue by created article with such name, and then mention my contribution. Fushantalk

Yes @Fushan007: you can create any article present on any of the eight region-wise lists. There is no article on Lala Rukh's tomb, you can create it and mention you contributions on the event's page. Please make sure your edits are not copyright violations (i.e copy-pasted from other websites). If this is your first time creating a new article, please read Wikipedia:Starting an article. Any reference for Barsala?[edit]

The reviewer of the DYK nomination of Quaid-e-Azam tourist lodge, Barsala has demanded a reference for verifying the claim of it being declared as a cultural heritage site. I cannot find the reference, can someone help? Why was this entry added to the list if there was no verification? Faizan 06:36, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Faizan:, this is a strange question to me. You will not find a "reference or online source" for most of the sites explicitly mentioning that they are "cultural heritage sites". These sites are in the lists because they have a cultural significance arising from their status as an archaeological site, historical site, landmark, monument, shrine, fort, government building, etc. You can clearly see the reference in the list for this site: its the the official AJK Government webiste. It is clearly mentioned there that this is a historical tourist lodge built during the Dogra rule. If a historical site is not of cultural significance then I don't know what is. Please try to understand the scope of the cultural heritage sites and do your research.
Please also note a) "Cultural heritage sites" is not a term, it has not been defined by any Government department or other body. Any site with cultural significance is a cultural heritage site. b) Pakistan has no formal record with the government of these sites, unlike in Europe (or other countries where most editors are from) we have only a handful of sites protected by the Government out of thousands. Rest are either not recorded, or are recorded but not protected. It is not possible in our case to provide an "official list" like those countries have. Samar Talk 09:54, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for you reply, I have quoted you at the DYK. Let's hope for the best, I agree that we lack official record, and that a site with historical importance has cultural significance. Faizan 14:57, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I understand, problem is sometimes editors from other regions find it difficult because cases from our region is different. It is hard to find reliable references in many (or most) cases. Anyways, lets hope your DYK gets through. Samar Talk 16:59, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
