Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RMTM)
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Uncontroversial technical requests[edit]

- Template:FlagIOC → Template:Flag IOC (move · discuss) – expand template name per WP:TPN HouseBlaster (talk · he/him) 00:07, 21 May 2024 (UTC)

- Template:FlagIOCathlete → Template:Flag IOC athlete (move · discuss) – expand template name per WP:TPN HouseBlaster (talk · he/him) 00:07, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
- Template:FlagIOCmedalist → Template:Flag IOC medalist (move · discuss) – expand template name per WP:TPN HouseBlaster (talk · he/him) 00:07, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
- Template:Flaglink/core → Template:Flag link/core (move · discuss) – Expand template name per WP:TPN HouseBlaster (talk · he/him) 23:53, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- Punchline (fictional character) → Punchline (character) (currently a redirect back to Punchline (fictional character)) (move · discuss) – The current disambiguation does not match how other characters, like Joker (character) and Robin (character), are done. Aoba47 (talk) 13:55, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- Article should probably be redirected to List of Batman family enemies#The New 52 and beyond per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Punchline (character) (2nd nomination). --Ahecht (TALK
PAGE) 14:38, 20 May 2024 (UTC)- I think holding another WP:AFD would be preferable over redirecting. The last AFD was done in 2021 so I think one should be done to assess how the article looks now and how the coverage on the character may have changed. I honestly did not think about that and was more focused on the (fictional character) disambiguation in the title. Aoba47 (talk) 14:47, 20 May 2024 (UTC)

- 2MASS J11193254–1137466 → 2MASS J11193254−1137466 (currently a redirect instead to 2MASS J11193254–1137466 AB) (move · discuss) – Correct typography (en-dash to minus sign) per Talk:2MASS J11011926−7732383#Requested move 12 May 2024. SevenSpheres (talk) 18:09, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- Akbar Rafsanjanī → Akbar Rafsanjani (currently a redirect back to Akbar Rafsanjanī) (move · discuss) – Unnecessary diacritic. The page doesn't use diacritics at all. The move last year apparently intended to shorten the title to Akbar Rafsanjani from Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, but there is no mention about the addition of the diacritic. The user was likely unable to move to Akbar Rafsanjani as I currently can't and tried to circumvent that by slightly changing the spelling. Aintabli (talk) 00:35, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
Requests to revert undiscussed moves[edit]
Contested technical requests[edit]
- Robert McInnes → Sifu Robert McInnes (currently a redirect back to Robert McInnes) (move · discuss) – Notable name in media Claggy (talk) 21:02, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose: It's not clear what is meant by "Notable name" here. "Sifu" is an honorific, and Wikipedia mostly avoids attaching honorifics in article titles. The source that I checked in the article just calls him Robert McInnes. — BarrelProof (talk) 23:32, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
- Court House, Virginia → Courthouse, Virginia (currently a redirect back to Court House, Virginia) (move · discuss) – Misspelled. Source: [1] Keystone18 (talk) 23:48, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Keystone18: This requires discussion. Not only has this been moved several times already, but sources differ on spelling, and in any case, as a neighborhood this belongs at Courthouse, Arlington or Court House, Arlington, not using the state. Station1 (talk) 06:14, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
- Caaguazú Department → Caaguazú department (currently a redirect back to Caaguazú Department) (move · discuss) – Change to sentence case (MOS:AT) Wracking talk! 03:58, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
- Caazapá Department → Caazapá department (currently a redirect back to Caazapá Department) (move · discuss) – Change to sentence case (MOS:AT) Wracking talk! 03:58, 18 May 2024 (UTC)

- Presidente Hayes Department → Presidente Hayes (currently a redirect back to Presidente Hayes Department) (move · discuss) – Make shorter (WP:CONCISE, WP:PRECISE) Wracking talk! 03:58, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
- Is 'Department' the proper noun in these instances? Randy Kryn (talk) 14:52, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
- Fender amplifier → Fender amplifiers (currently a redirect back to Fender amplifier) (move · discuss) – Per the talk page, the article is about an entire product line, not just one amp. Mbinebri (talk) 12:51, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
- WP:NCPLURAL would suggest otherwise. Even if it is a whole class of amps, it can still be referred to in the singular, e.g. in his other hand is a Fender amplifier he's borrowed from somebody. So the default is singular, and the 2017 move seems correct. — Amakuru (talk) 18:24, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
- Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area → Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park (currently a redirect back to Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area) (move · discuss) – The state park was renamed per the official Tennessee State Parks website from "Area" to "Park". ACase0000 (talk) 19:24, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
- There's a lot of duplicated content between Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area and Sycamore Shoals. I wonder if merging the two might be a better outcome here. --Ahecht (TALK

- Trisha (actress) → Trisha Krishnan (currently a redirect back to Trisha (actress)) (move · discuss) – Trisha Krishnan's name follows the Indian patronymic naming convention, where 'Krishnan' is her father's given name. It's not a mononyme. Anoop Bhatia (talk) 19:57, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
