You appear to have contacted several editors who participated in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Miss Wisconsin's Outstanding Teen and were both keep voters soliciting their participation in the above-mentioned AfD. Please review WP:CANVASS carefully. Normally, contacting only one "side" of an AfD discussion (even if done lightly) is considered improper because it introduces bias into the deletion discussion. Do you have any ideas on how to correct this? I'm tempted to simply contact everyone who participated in that discussion, especially as you are claiming that it somehow produced a consensus to create the new article. ObiterDicta ( pleadingserrataappeals ) 01:55, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I will contact the others myself, and was thinking of doing so anyway. PageantUpdater 02:00, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Stress[edit]

Hello...I had just been noticing that you've seemed to be under quite a bit of stress recently. While it's of course just a suggestion, sometimes it helps to take a little time away from the project, focus on other things. While your energy and passion are certainly great to see, it's in the end not something worth getting worked up over, and I'd certainly hate to see you end up in trouble. Anyway just a suggestion, do feel free to ignore it, revert it, take it however you'd like. Seraphimblade Talk to me 00:37, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pageants[edit]

Hey thanks for addressing that merge! I knew it should probably go elsewhere...and just took the queue for the destination from the teen page. I'm a pageant-newbie, so excuse my misdirection on that puppy! Thanks much! Dreadstar 02:28, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Would it be better to redirect Miss New Jersey's Outstanding Teen, rather than deleting it? Dreadstar 02:33, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Good idea. Will do so myself. In fact, it may be worth redirecting the rest of them as well. Good teamwork sorting this one out... hadn't thought of redirecting :) Btw the State Pageants article itself is up for afd but judging from the discussion it's fairly likely to be kept... should be closing in the next couple of days. Excellent! Wikipedia at it's best! Two editors working together as a team to make things better! I'll take a look a the AfD, and perhaps weigh in. TOC[edit]

Glad you like the "States" TOC! Let me know if there's anything I can do to help with the technical aspects of the pageant articles, formatting and stuff. I know nothing about them, so I wouldn't be of much use content-wise. Dreadstar 21:19, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, PageantUpdater. I came in peace :) . In the article Brenda Brabham, you added that the pageant's dress "contrasted sharply with more traditional pageant designs". Without a source, this statement is original research. Was that your own conclusion, or it was something widely concluded by a number of sources?

I'm asking that because that statement seems to be the solely reason for including the non-free image Image:BrabhamEveningGown.jpg.

Hi, PageantUpdater. I noticed you added a reference to the above mentioned article. Thanks for taking the time! I hope you don't take it too personally if I express some concerns about that reference.
First, the reference doesn't really backs up the original research concern in the passage "contrasted sharply with more traditional pageant designs". The text you referenced is simply the description of Ms. Brabham clothes. I'm afraid a description of what she was wearing, by itself, wouldn't be enough for justifying the use of that non-free image.
Second, and the most important indeed... do you believe that Tom's Page of Miss Universe Mania qualifies as a reliable source? Besides being self-published work, the text's tone simply can't make me feel comfortable. As an example, the sole reference to Brenda Brabham's clothes reads: "Pennsylvania showed that daring sexy diva style that I loved with the infamous bra gown. She was hot and she knew it".
Would you be o.k. if I remove this "reference" from the article? Or would you prefer to do it yourself?

OTRS System[edit]

Hi, PageantUpdater. Congratulations for the flickr images you get to be released under GFDL. But please, remember to follow the instructions on WP:COPYREQ#When_permission_is_confirmed when you get such images.

Basically, you need forward the e-mail releasing those images to "permissions-en AT wikimedia DOT org", for archiving. After that, someone with OTRS access will tag the image with {{PermissionOTRS}}, where a ticket number will make it possible to verify the validity of the licensing claim.

I hope you understand why it is important.

Let me know if you have any doubts. Or maybe you would prefer to talk with User:Videmus Omnia, that is very experienced (as successful) in getting images released under free licenses.

Message to Howcheng[edit]

Can someone please pass this along?

  • Dear Mr Howcheng. I would like to let you know that your comment and barnstar here was inappropriate. I believe that "congratulating" such a user is a bit out of line and that your veiled threat towards editors like myself was pretty low. Considering you have been known to back Abu badali and delete images he has nominated while appearing to disregard the opinions myself and others, I think this is pretty unfair. Kind regards, PageantUpdater talkcontribs 21:39, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bidali[edit]

They didn't do james jack SHIT! Nothing, not even probation! It speaks to the fact that when an organization gets large enough, it drops concern for its customers (in this case, the user/readers), and focuses on promoting itself and covering it's own ass. Bidali is laughing, and will continue vandalizing the project.

Sorry to bother you pageant, but I just had to vent. TechnoFaye Kane 22:17, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Lol no worries I totally agree. As I said, cabal = bias towards Abu badali = wet bus ticket. However, I don't know what else I expected. Sad but true. PageantUpdater talkcontribs 22:19, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

After typing the above, I looked at your other contributions in this and discovered you got banned for complaining about bidali. When I was, I was banned for 30 days. This project is going into the toilet. A message I just left:

Bidali to you: Do you believe I had some involvement with the removal of the image from the article? If so, please state the accusation clearly and start collecting evidence.
Me to Bidali: Yes, Bidali, now that you asked, I think you are a liar. I even think that you're using sock puppets to back you up. Evidence? If I had access to checkuser, I'd expose you. But since management has screwed up policy so much that the integrity and utility of wikipedia has been seriously compromised, it is obviously a waste to try. You are a vandal and a self-described "nihilist" whose stated purpose is to "destroy beauty and value". You figured out how to do that and get away with it. Unfortunately, I cannot give a more specific opinion of you because last time I did that, I was banned for 30 days. TechnoFaye Kane 22:53, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Even if we leave the project, it won't make any difference. Sometimes the bad guys win. If it makes you feel better, I am so sick of this happening everywhere that I walked off my nuclear engineering job and am a hermit living in the woods where I hacked the power grid and wireless internet in a cave in the woods (see my user page for link to pics).

And it's all because this whole country, indeed the world, is run by ass-covering, self-centered IDIOTS whose foot soldiers are destructive fuck-ups like The Taliban and Bidali.

The only encouragement I can give is that maybe it will be better in the 23rd century.

Censorship? Hardly.[edit]

It is obviously uncivil and a personal attack to call someone a liar and a vandal and to explain that a more specific statement would lead to a block. It's also uncivil to suggest that someone is deluded simply because they disagree with you. For all the complaining you have done about Abu's incivility, I would expect more civility from you. -- But|seriously|folks  01:41, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Doh! Your comment just proved my point! As far as I can remember I never claimed nor do I believe that Abu badali has ever been uncivil to me! That was not my beef with this guy! My beef was with other aspects of his behaviour (which I have rehashed so many times but will not do again because it's obvious no one gives a damn). And by the way, I never called you deluded. I simply expressed a belief that I thought you were deluded. That's two different things. Peace out brussel sprout. PageantUpdater talkcontribs 01:47, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Incivil comments do not lose their incivility through the inclusion of weasel words like "I think". Yes, it's just your opinion but that doesn't mean you have to express it. And if you don't think Abu was uncivil, then all we have is him reporting your improper images. -- But|seriously|folks  01:52, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And regarding this message, there are ways to express disagreement with others without being incivil. For instance, instead of saying "You are delusional if you think X", try "I disagree with your statement that X". If you have to belittle someone else to make your point, it sends a signal that your point isn't all that solid on its own. -- But|seriously|folks  02:02, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

Thanks for jumping in with that anon over the Freddie Mercury article. He has had a nasty tendency all night to make one or two word edits and when that one or two words come up as "IS GAY", he gets pissed when it's identified as vandalism and reverted :)

Cropped image[edit]

Hi, PageantUpdater. I've made a completely cropped version of Julie Laipply's image. You can see how it looks in the article here. Do you like it? Besides cropping, there's one more effect to remove every thing that isn't Julie Laipply.

If you don't like it, or think it's inappropriate for any other reason, feel free to revert it. If you like it, I can do that for other images if you want.

Best regards, --Abu badali (talk) 17:01, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think I have any non-free image uploads left on here :P I don't think there are any others that seriously need cropping but you're welcome to take a look if you get a moment... I have been busy the past few weeks trying to come up with free images and if I do say so myself I'm quite proud of the result :) You can check my Commons upload log or some of the galleries where there are pics (Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, Miss Universe, Miss America) (although I haven't put all of them in the galleries). Pathetic grasps for publicity[edit]

And still more! Wow, really non-notable, aren't they?!

Absolutely. I'm glad you agree that doing local TV news timefillers isn't even close to making anything or anyone notable. I'm sure you pity the poor anoraks who grasp at straws to attempt to prop up their claims of real-world importance for their particular obsessions, but don't be too harsh on them, as everyone, really, needs a hobby. --Calton | Talk 01:19, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh yawn, you really fire me up.

Why would I do that? Actually, I pity you, especially your feeble -- and, ultimately, laughably inaccurate -- attempts to gloat over things which are not worth gloating over.

Let's put this in words you can understand: your sources are crap, the notion that local TV news timefillers are in any way notable is not so much wrong as it is pathetic, and your peculiar obsession isn't actually shared by the real world. Everyone needs a hobby, but perhaps you need to go find a free webhost to indulge in yours.

Until now, I didn't actually care, but now your childish bit of attention-seeking is prompting me to rethink that. It looks like some major housecleaning is due, and it looks like that just went on my to-do list. --Calton | Talk 01:50, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can't think of much else I've written that could reasonable be deleted so have fun

As your performance in the Miss Teen USA 2007 AFD shows, you have a problematic -- to say the least -- grasp of what constitutes "reasonable", so pardon me if I find that statement meaningless in the extreme. --Calton | Talk 01:59, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Little Mistake on Stephanie Culberson[edit]

Miss Tennessee 2001 and Miss Tennessee USA 2004, Stephanie Culberson is one of three women to place in the top 5 of both Miss America and Miss USA. The other 2 are Constance Dorn, Miss North Carolina 1972 and Miss North Carolina USA 1975 and Desiree Denise Daniels, Miss Tennessee 1982 and Miss Tennessee USA 1984. There is yet to come the fourth woman to place in the top 5 at both pageants. I corrected the mistake by changing four women to three.

I see. Some editors forget to write that she made the top 5 cut at Miss America 1984 in the notes section. Now it's fixed. Okay.

Ms. Universe 1st Runner-up Succession Box[edit]

hi! User talk:Cacau Toledo has recently added a succession box to all contestants who placed as 1st runner-up in the ms. universe pageant. i have not yet left a note on the editor's talk page. however, personally, i am against this, since it is not the title the contestants were competing for, and one 1st runner-up does not really succeed another--in contrast to one ms. universe winner succeeding another (i.e. as proven by the outgoing beauty queen crowning her successor). also, this is a precedent for a slippery slope; if we have a 1st runner-up succession box, then we might as well have a 2nd-runner up succession box, even a ms. photogenic one, etc. Joey80 09:01, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RPM Productions[edit]

I notice the notes deleting RPM Productions. I'll admit I have a personal interest in this because Paula Miles is my sister. But her franchise is the most successful in the Miss USA history and she is on the advisory board for Miss Universe. The company has helped launch the careers of Ali Landry, Vanessa Manillo and Shelley Henning among others. The RPM entry had been in there a while, but I'm not sure why it was deleted. RPM handles three states in the Miss USA system and has been in operation for 28 years. janicelmcdonald Talk to me —Preceding comment was added at 03:59, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adeyto pictures[edit]

Hi there,

though it's not you that erased all pictures available on the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adeyto entry, I would like to know why that happened and appreciate if you could enlighten me. All pictures were used with artist's/creator's permission and were not infringing any copyright. I am sure nobody complained about using those pictures here so it's hard to understand why someone (editor like IKIT) would put such an effort in erasing data that only improves Wikipedia. Thank you so much for an answer and for suggestions on what has to be done to have the images restored. Seneca IV (talk) 01:49, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My edits to Pandora Jewelry[edit]

It's not a problem! I saw your request for feedback, and I would recommend that you add a few sections on the company itself, not the merchandise. How did the company start off? Is it doing well in terms of profit? Did it ever have any controversies? How is the product doing in terms of overseas trade? You might have to look up some of the Danish newspapers for this. Documents from the US Government with regards to imports might be of assistance as well. Good luck!--Dem393 (talk) 04:32, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes! Thank you, Dem393. That's exactly what's wrong with the article - it focuses on the products, or the charitable givings, not the company itself. There are only five sentences that are about the company itself, and two of those are about the stores. Even the first sentence skews wrong. "Pandora Jewelry is a range of handcrafted charm bracelets..." But it's not. It's a company that produces a range of jewelry and has some retail outlets. There's no indication what type of company it is, what the ownership or management structure is like, that sort of thing. Because it focuses on the products and the PR (which is what the sponsorships are), it reads like advertising. Pairadox (talk) 11:34, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Block this IP address[edit]

Hi! I think this IP address 125.164.255.116 must be BLOCK as soon as possible. For what? Because this user always vandalize the profiles of non-Indonesian beauty queens and much higher height for Indonesian contestants without any sources!

Thank you so much!

Uploading Pictures[edit]

I know you have been aware that an editor has been trying to upload pictures anything about Miss Earth, however, it has never been done on the right way, and mostly were copy violations to Wikipedia policy. I would like to help this editor, however, I myself doesn’t know how to post pictures. In conjunction to this I would like to ask your benevolent assistance to upload some pictures like for the articles like Jessica Trisko and Miss Earth 2007 if you have time, since you have the expertise with this subject. I have asked a photographer named, Julles Roberto if we can use his pictures in Wikipedia articles and he responded affirmatively. Here is the link and just scroll down the messages in his website and you will find my request and his positive response [1]. He emailed me too, if ever you wanted further confirmation, I can email to you his response, just give me your email address. Anyway, the following are other Miss Earth 2007 files to choose from, also taken by the same photographer. [2] [3] I hope to hear from you.
