June 2015[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you.  —SMALLJIM  13:12, 29 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • @LambandCooper: please choose a name not taken. Smalljim I don't think this block was really necessary; couldn't you just have asked them to change their name? –xenotalk 13:59, 29 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
In my experience, when users with obviously promotional names are asked to change without being blocked they tend not to do so.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 14:52, 29 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Anthony.bradbury: We regularly receive requests users who have been asked to change their username for promotional requests. Keep in mind we now have an interface: Special:GlobalRenameRequest, it is much easier to ask someone to change their name than in the past, with the wiki knowledge needed to find and submit a request. –xenotalk 15:36, 29 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

I hope CryptoInvestor777 is not taken :)

Accept reason:

I've unblocked this account on the basis that you understand and will abide by our conflict of interest policy, as you have indicated below. This includes the obvious requirement not to sidestep the rule by getting someone else to make promotional edits on your behalf.  —SMALLJIM  18:44, 29 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • @CryptoInvestor777: have you read over WP:COI and understand how that will apply to your editing going forward? @Smalljim: are you alright with the unblock request? The user has been renamed, feel free to carry it out if you are. –xenotalk 17:10, 29 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Xeno, I have just read the WP:COI. I will ask other members of the Ripple community to insert references that is related to any of my business activities. As far as I understood that is the way not to violate WP:COI. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CryptoInvestor777 (talkcontribs)
