Teensy Eensy Images[edit]

Why did I restrict my images to "non-commercial use"? Because Creative Commons normally give the author that option (and I am allowed to create my own license terms).

As a compromise, I will make the images very tiny for Wikipedia use to comply with the public domain policy.

Cheers

Userbox Migration[edit]

Hello! I noticed your script was migrating a very large number of userboxes lately. I wanted to suggest not trying to move every userbox, especially if they do not seem to be causing any sort of controversy. If someone migrated an uncontrovercial box and did not bypass its redirects, you might want to just move the userbox back to its original location instead of finishing their migration, which saves time and reduces headaches. It's my opinon that migrating userboxes which are not causing problems runs contrary to the purpose of WP:UM, which is to reduce conflicts and avoid starting new arguments. Thanks! —AySz88\^-^ 22:51, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, though I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing; I guess I should give an example. I noticed that you moved a few interest boxes, like a Magic: The Gathering box and a D&D box. Those are probably harmless (or somewhat useful) enough to leave alone, unless I missed some sort of big incident involving those sort of boxes.
Happy editing. :) —AySz88\^-^ 23:25, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:You Stand Watching.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:You Stand Watching.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Automated message to bot owners[edit]

As a result of discussion on the village pump and mailing list, bots are now allowed to edit up to 15 times per minute. The following is the new text regarding bot edit rates from Wikipedia:Bot Policy:

Until new bots are accepted they should wait 30-60 seconds between edits, so as to not clog the recent changes list and user watchlists. After being accepted and a bureaucrat has marked them as a bot, they can edit at a much faster pace. Bots doing non-urgent tasks should edit approximately once every ten seconds, while bots who would benefit from faster editing may edit approximately once every every four seconds.

Also, to eliminate the need to spam the bot talk pages, please add Wikipedia:Bot owners' noticeboard to your watchlist. Future messages which affect bot owners will be posted there. Thank you. --Mets501 04:41, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help needed[edit]

The table on Mazharul Islam looks ugly to me. It's difficult to access, the size is intimidating, the last column that contains comments is way too wide, the projects coulmn or the second column doesn't project the projects strongly, and a grouping of the years may do it much good. Can you give a hand there? I have been advised by User:Real96 to take help from WP:TABLE, but since I am quite illiterate on this code thing it is not helping (I can steal codes from others fine, but writing or fixing it is way too scary for me). Redirects[edit]

I have been fixing links to Peruvian nuevo sol which actually hit a redirect first, such as Sol (currency). I checked out your redirect page, and I found that you list "Peruvian nuevo sol" (which is not a redirect), "Sol (currency)" (which is), and "Sol (currency)(disambiguation)" (which does not exist and probably never should). Given that "Peruvian nuevo sol" is not a redirect, you may want to remove it, but perhaps I do not understand the goal of your redirect page. --Cromwellt|talk 20:44, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Poccil, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Christmas tree-7534301.jpg) was found at the following location: User talk:Poccil. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Please note that it is possible that the image on your page is included vie a template or usebox. In that case, please find a free image for the template or userbox. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 11:06, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:SSCT vert stacked bw.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:SSCT vert stacked bw.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 09:43, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Image:Reversible inhibition.svg[edit]

Thank you for uploading free images/media such as Image:Reversible inhibition.svg to Wikipedia! As you may know, there is another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In the future, please upload media there instead (see m:Help:Unified login). That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view your previous uploads). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Speedy deletion of Myspace Layouts[edit]

A tag has been placed on Myspace Layouts, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Blowdart | talk 10:41, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Langsteps.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Langsteps.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:35, 20 June 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jay32183 (talk) 19:35, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Male bonding has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP is not a dictionary WP:NOT#DICTIONARY

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Lionelt (talk) 01:42, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Julian LeBlant[edit]

It's been so long since I have done anything on Wikipedia, that I can't even recall the methodology, whether to reply to you or post on the page in question. In any event the photograph of the Julian LeBlant painting was one I took, so I decided to share it with the public. The painting won a Gold Medal in the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1889, so it has long, long, long, long, long, long, long passed into the public domain. And of course, I am sure no one has made a complaint about it, that this is another self-appointed act of Wiki-Sabotage, which is unique to Wikipedia. Oh, what can I delete today? The large painting, the artist's best known work, has since been donated to a museum, so everyone is happy to see the image reproduced. I owned the painting at the time I photographed it, so I had every right to scan and upload the image of the painting!!! I shot the image and owned the file as I stated!!!! At one time I uploaded an image of Julian LeBlant himself as well, but that was another act of good will that ran afoul of a self-appointed censor, who once again worried that an image from the 1880s was not out of copyright, so it too was deleted, which I am sure led to an enormous orgasm on the part of the deleter of the 130 year old image. Who knows what motivates such a person, someone better than I, I guess. With these type of standards, it is a wonder anything ever gets up and it is why I no longer find the time to contribute. Too much of life to live to worry about such things, especially since my stroke and I feel like having another one every time I waste time with such twaddle! Leblant lived a long life and died between the wars, but all of the images that have been uploaded are classics from the Belle Epoque era, all so far out of contention or copyright as to be ridiculous!
