The thirty-fourth season of the American animated television series The Simpsons aired on Fox from September 25, 2022[1] to May 21, 2023.[2] The season consisted of twenty-two episodes.[3] The entire season was released on Disney+ in the United States on October 11, 2023, with the last three episodes remaining on Hulu. The series was renewed for seasons 35 and 36 on January 26, 2023.[4]

Production[edit]

The season was announced on March 3, 2021, when it was revealed that The Simpsons had been renewed for its thirty-third and thirty-fourth.[5] The season is the first in which two Treehouse of Horror episodes are aired in a single season: a parody of the 2017 supernatural horror film It and its 2019 sequel It Chapter Two, followed by the traditional anthology episode the following week.[6]

In October 2022, The Simpsons' official Twitter announced a Pennywise/Krusty the Clown-themed fan art contest, winners would have their fan art featured in the end credits of the season's "Treehouse of Horror".[7]

Short[edit]

As Duffman notices how smart Lisa has become, he views Homer as the ultimate father and enlists his help to reconnect with Amber and win the competition.

Homer and Marge have to hijack ranch dressing into their home from Flanders when it's the only thing Maggie will eat, Bart works with his friends through online video to help Principal Skinner retrieve his childhood quilt from his cousin Peter, and Lisa imagines herself shrinking down in size so she can enter the dollhouse given to her as an early Christmas present.

Controversy[edit]

Due to criticism from China, the episode "One Angry Lisa" is not available on Disney+ in Hong Kong. The episode contains the line: "Behold the wonders of China. Bitcoin mines, forced labor camps where children make smartphones." This is not the first episode to be removed from Disney+ in Hong Kong: "Goo Goo Gai Pan" was taken down shortly after the service's launch in 2021 owing to references to the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre.[33][34][35][36]
