Ugly templates in math articles[edit]

This template is exceedingly ugly and occupies too much room in biographical articles about mathematicians, in my opinion.

I see that it only took 43 minutes for the author of this template to undo my recent revision. So now I'm going to start a dialog.

First, I have no desire to start a revert war. My reason for making the change was simple. There seems to be a consensus on WT:WPM that large junky-looking templates are to be discouraged in articles about mathematics, and about mathematicians. Generally speaking, if a navbox comes up hidden to start, so that an interested user can expand the box if he cares to, it is less objectionable to the math editors. At least, that's what I've gathered from reading the discussions at WT:WPM.

So what's wrong with setting "state = collapsed" in this particular template? Why not leave it that way? DavidCBryant 01:09, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
