Discussion[edit]

Brackets have been deleted to allow for texts such as (TYO: 6758, NYSE: SNE). Shawnc 19:54, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Why is this TYO instead of TSE or even TST ("Tōkyō Shōken Torihikisho")? I see in the TSE article no mention of "TYO" whatsoever! -- Jokes Free4Me 13:21, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This might be an attempt to disambiguate between other stock exchange templates such as the Taiwan Stock Exchange template currently located at Template:TSE. Unfortunately, I believe TYO is not an accepted acronym (as Jokes said, it is not mentioned in the main article. The official website doesn't mention it either, and this usage quite possibly violates WP:NEO). Any proposals to disambiguate better, i.e. move templates to Template:TSE (Tokyo), Template:TSE (Taiwan), etc.? --Geopgeop (T) 11:58, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Moving is not a big deal, as redirects can deal with synonyms. More important is the acronym that appears in the article text. At the moment, this is also TYO. Shall we change this to Tokyo? --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 10:58, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Tyo → ? — TYO is not an accepted acronym; however, there are already existing terms that use the TSE acronym, including the Taiwan Stock Exchange. —Geopgeop (T) 06:11, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]

Any additional comments:

I'd have figured "Tokyo Stock Exchange" is far and away the primary meaning of TSE, but I guess not; you can see the top result for searching TSE on some national variants of Google, for example:

  • Google.com, .co.kr, .cn: Test of Spoken English (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL, [1][2]); Tokyo Stock Exchange comes in below Toronto Stock Exchange
  • Google.co.uk, .co.jp: Tokyo Stock Exchange [3][4]
  • Google.com.hk, com.tw: Taiwan Stock Exchange [5][6]
  • Google.com.au: some kid named Alastair Tse [7] (Tokyo Stock Exchange is the second result)
  • Google.com.ca: Toronto Stock Exchange [8]. Other T. Stock Exchange aren't even in the first page of results.

Maybe we should avoid the TSE acronym entirely and use JP/TT (or TW?). Thoughts? cab (talk) 04:14, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bloomberg?[edit]

I cannot see stock information when clicking this link. I found that ":JP" still remains (http://quote.tse.or.jp/tse/quote.cgi?F=listing/Edetail1&MKTN=T&QCODE={{{1}}}:JP).
