Template problem reported on 26 November 2011/Help![edit]

The format has been radically altered and AfD is duplicated at the bottom; is this a major change of format, or could someone knowledgeable fix this ASAP before discussions go in different directions off different threads?! Dru of Id (talk) 21:47, 26 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

show AFD categories too?[edit]

Hi, I'd like to propose adding the AfD categories to appear below dates. So editors at AfD can more easily shift from browsing by date to browsing within an AfD category such as "Media and Music" or "Organisation, corporation, or product". Currently the "Recent AfDs" template shows just one line with text:

Recent AfDs:    Today    Yesterday      May 9 (Sat)      May 8 (Fri)      May 7 (Thu)     More...

and i propose adding, in small font, a second row with text:

Media   Organisations   Biography   Society   Web   Games   Science   Arts   Places   Indiscernible   Not-Yet-Sorted

(Technical notes: Although it is permalinked, the sandbox version will display as intended only if Template:AfD categories/sandbox still shows like this version (permalink). And if the appearance change is to be implemented the "Template:Recent AfDs" should be revised to link to a new "Template:AfD categories horizontal". The current, vertically-oriented "Template:AfD categories" is needed elsewhere in its current form.)

Per revised version that I developed and tested at Template:recent AfDs/sandbox, I just also revised the "Recent AfDs" template in this diff, plus a small touchup diff. The change is to incorporate a new template page {{AfD categories horizontal shortnames}} which displays as:

Media Organisations Biography Society Web Games Science Arts Places Indiscern. Not-Sorted

This edit request to Template:Recent AfDs/core has been answered. Set the |answered= or |ans= parameter to no to reactivate your request.

Replacement request Because today's date is displayed only in the tooltip and it is difficult to understand Template:Recent_AfDs/core [1]

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit extended-protected}} template. I think that this may be a good idea, but the format in the linked page is not ideal. You are welcome to edit this template's sandbox at {{Recent AfDs/core/sandbox}}.
