Major overhall, of the overhaull[edit]

These major overhauls of the market templates need to stop and need to be discussed. First of they add a major confusion to the average person, who all articles and templates should be directed to, by separating the terrestrial broadcast into three different types, it looks as if their are digital only uhf only, and vhf only stations, and the adding of the future digital or analog stations only adds to the confusion. Also their should be no links to other markets in the template unless you plan to put every market that borders on the market in question, in the US its usually about 4 other markets that border onto one market, more in ones epically in the east when market size in terms of physical size is smaller. The addition of one market is subjective, epically since these were designed to be one market only templates. Stations that are listed as bing in multiple markets, which is few, should be listed in the templates. These overall templates need to be seriously overhauled and simplified before they continue to clutter up articles. --Boothy443 | trácht ar 21:52, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

my views[edit]

I'd beg to differ. simply separating the stations into different categories, giving SOFT colours (off-white, beige), with blue bars for the top and bottom is alright. As well, linking to the fellow markets should happen, IF the stations in each market are picked up easily (which they usually ARE). I stand by the overhauls I did, for the sake of elegant simplicity.

If you want a discussion before an edit of any type, that's fine with me. I'd be glad to put forth a prototype edit for you and others to review in consensus before being approved. i just thought wikipedia was Open-Source and free of red-tape and bureaucracy.

WNYE[edit]

Isn't WNYE an independent station now? The box seems outdated. Pacific Coast Highway|Leave a message ($.25) 23:40, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WVVH's mailing address, studio and broadcast tower are at the East Hampton Airport in Wainscott, New York in East Hampton (town), New York. They are more than 80 miles from the Queens-Nassau border so it should not be on the list. If this list is within the NYC Metro area it would fit. If this list has a 60 mile limit it would not.Americasroof (talk) 20:35, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Template is too cluttered[edit]

The template is too cluttered and difficult to read. I've come up with this as an alternate way of organizing it. It is a lot cleaner looking this way, although it does take up more room. Although, I'd actually prefer to remove the subchannel listings, there are just too many links the way it is. If users want that information they can click on each article. I propose just listing the affiliation of the main channel. The Navbox isn't intended to be a channel guide. I would like to get some feedback, please let me know what you think.--Rusf10 (talk) 04:02, 15 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't know that space-saving is helpful here. 142.160.131.220 (talk) 05:23, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Template titles really don't take any space on the Wikimedia servers; we just had an unasked for move a month before, but it's still a clear as day title. Nate (chatter) 05:44, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per WP:TPN Template names are easiest to remember if they follow standard English spelling, spacing, and capitalization. Notice that "saving space" isn't one of the considerations. --Gonnym (talk) 11:18, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
