Link to disambiguation page?[edit]

Hello. This template links to syndication (disambiguation). I see the note "Points to the disambiguated syndication page as this template is for both online and offline comics" but I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean. Hows about we remove that link? RSS and Atom field removal[edit]

Hi. There's a proposal at Wikipedia talk:External links#Proposal to remove the RSS and Atom fields from infoboxes, that involves this template (and 2 others). Caption[edit]

Comictype Attribute[edit]

Needs alt text parameter[edit]

Could this template please be modified to provide the "alt=" alternate text parameter? A parm for pixel size would be good too. Although, I see that both be achieved in the following way until this enhancement is made: "image=[[File:Filename.jpg|240px|alt=Alt text]]" Prhartcom (talk) 00:37, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've added parameters for the alt text and upright, but not for image size in pixels, the use of which is discouraged by our WP:IUP. Alakzi (talk) 00:56, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You can't use both the File: syntax and the |alt= parameter; you're gonna have to change it to:

| image = Filename.jpg
| alt = Alt text

Need for "On hiatus" field?[edit]

The "last" field is for strips that have ended. I'm looking at a case (Secret Asian Man) where the author declared that the strip was going on hiatus, and they might revisit it later. It has been several years since that declaration, and the author hasn't come back yet, but using the "last" field still feels inappropriate. So my question is, do we need a special field for "on hiatus", or should we leave it alone and let the body of the article cover it? —FactoidCow (talk) 15:34, 22 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There's already a |status= field, which is clearly meant to be used for such purposes. Since it's freeform, filling in something like |status=On hiatus (since [date]) would seem to adequately cover cases like that. I'd probably leave the |last= field blank, since it's labeled "End date" which, I agree, doesn't seem appropriate for "paused" strips unless/until an official abandonment is announced, or the strip's status is clearly altered by some significant event (such as the death of the author).
