Old Irish[edit]

Why does this template call Old Irish "Old Gaelic"? I'm aware that there are some people in the world who do this, but most scholarship I've come across does not. The article on the subject is also called Old Irish which creates an odd dissonance for the user when they click on a link with one name and get an article with the other. This has a bit of an NPOV / activist feel about it.

Pictish[edit]

I've reverted an edit moving Pictish from Uncertain to Brythonic. Given the lack of actual evidence about the language, how can it be anything but uncertain?

Remove Bungee language from template[edit]

I have made a bold edit to remove Bungee language from the template after quite an exhaustive search. I have not found a linguistic source which claims it to be a mixed language containing any substantial Gaelic element. It is an English dialect with a substrata composed primarily of Scottish dialects of English (including Highland English) and Cree, there appear to be a couple of Gaelic loanwords but less so than would be found in Newfoundland English for example. There appear to be a couple of non-linguistic texts which use a throwaway line about it being a mixed language of Gaelic, but I think this is likely that these refer to a common perception rather than any linguistic research.

For the most thorough treatment see, "The Bungee dialect of the Red River Settlement" a dissertation by Eleanor M. Blain. Be warned anonymising participants did not appear to be a thing in 80's Canada!

Welsh Romani, remove from template[edit]

Welsh Romani (in as much as we can talk of it existing now) is an English cryptolect/sociolect with a Romani lexicon. The old Welsh Romani was a version of Romani with some Welsh and English loanwords. Welsh Romani today might be classed as a mixed language, but not containing a Celtic component, old Welsh Romani wasn't a mixed language.
