Requested move[edit]

{{movereq}}

Template:Avatar (film) → ? — Actually two names to suggest. Either move to Template:James Cameron's Avatar or Template:Avatar (2009 film).

  1. The first reason is to disambiguate between the different films.
  2. The second reason as it is possible that is what the franchise may be called.
  3. The third reason and this is especially for the second name is because of the strong consensus at the Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2010 January 24#Category:Avatar (film).

Note: If moved, i will also put the original name on RFD once links have been corrected. Simply south (talk) 20:20, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm perfectly okay with this. I'd prefer the first name though, since it is a franchise, not just a film. My reasoning behind this name was simply because Template:Avatar is already taken up by Avatar: The Last Airbender. Before the template was nominated for deletion, I was going to request consensus to move Template:Avatar to Template:Avatar: The Last Airbender and then replace Template:Avatar with this template. However, Template:James Cameron's Avatar sounds good to me. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 20:31, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • That should say possibly say possible franchise but it does look like one. so erm ... Simply south (talk) 20:37, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I thought a game and an upcoming book turned it into a franchise? --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 20:43, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
      • Probably do. Okay, i'll leave it (was on reason 2). Simply south (talk) 20:46, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Use {{Avatar (2009 film)}} - it matches the article. 76.66.197.77 (talk) 05:19, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment' {{Avatar}} needs to be renamed. 76.66.197.77 (talk) 05:19, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • TL'ed movereq. Please use Wikipedia:Templates for discussion in order to discuss moving/renaming templates. Thanks.

    • TFD is not the appropriate place to discuss simple renaming. It primarily handles deletions and mergers. Renaming a template is no different than renaming an article. Either an editor simply moves the page, or if there is a problem with that (controversy, need for assistance), it can be taken to Wikipedia:Requested moves. To my knowledge the only type of rename that requires XFD discussion is moving a category, because technical limitations mean that any category renaming is effectively a deletion of the old name. --RL0919 (talk) 15:15, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unobtanium[edit]

Should Unobtanium really be in the navbox? It isn't unique to Avatar and a navbox for the film doesn't make sense on the article since it's about a very general topic. It would be like having a {{Bob Dylan}} navbox at the bottom of Folk Punk. The articles should be all part of a series. A wikilink inside the Avatar article itself would suffice. Discrepancy[edit]

How is Avatar 2 still displaying, but the code has it changed to the renamed title? I’m pretty sure every page in this template still links to Avatar 2 because of this, but it can’t be changed because the code said it already changed--CreecregofLife (talk) 14:17, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
