Oppose as unnecessary WP:OVERPRECISION. There's only one other possibility for each of the 2 articles, so hatnotes solve the issue of the extremely rare reader who might be in the wrong place. Year of birth is highly unlikely to be helpful in these 2 cases, especially Maclay since they're only a few years apart. Station1 (talk) 19:08, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Support the 1765 one has 27 views but William Plunkett Maclay has 34. The 1720 one has 25 views but William T. Smith has 28[[1]] and middle names are normally omitted making the titles ambiguous. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:27, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Support per nomination and Crouch, Swale. William Maclay (Pennsylvania representative) is indeed incomplete disambiguation and should redirect to the William Maclay disambiguation page. Support William Maclay (Pennsylvania politician, born 1765) and William Smith (New York politician, born 1720). Standard disambiguation is just to use "politician". Relister comment: To my eye, there's currently consensus to move away from the current titles, but it could be helpful to have more discussion on the recent proposal to replace the terms representative/senator in the DABs with simply "politician".
