Fictional characters[edit]

I've removed "Syed Masood" as his pronunciation appears to be a very counterintuitive ˈsaʕiːd, this name. John Cengiz talk 11:01, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Content blanking[edit]

It seems that HiIamstandingbehindyou (talk · contribs) believes that Sayyid (or its equivalent Syed) is only ever used as an honorific, whereas JohnCengiz77 (talk · contribs) has fashioned a very useful article about Sayyid being used as an actual name, complete with a list of some who bear this name. I agree with John on this one, but I do agree that citations are needed. However, a lack of citations is not a reason to throw out the entire article, unless Hi can provide a source to verify that Sayyid and Syed are never used as names, but only ever as honorifics. Articles for deletion/Sayyid (name)[edit]

No source provided not a single one.HiIamstandingbehindyou (talk) 21:45, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That is true, and it is a concern, but it is not cause to completely blank the page. There is no source needed to add names to a list. I don't need a source to tell me that John Smith's last name is Smith, any more than I need a source to tell me that Syed Abul Maksud's first name is Syed. It would be useful to find a source for the claim that Sayyid, Sayed and Syed are all different transliterations of the same name, and that the name derives from (but is not equivalent to) the honorific term. Female[edit]

Could someone please add some information, even if it's just a sentence, about the female form of this name? Thanks, Dismas|(talk) 16:28, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
