Cleanup tag[edit]

Does anyone object to removing the cleanup tag on this page? I believe that it has greatly improved since the tag was added. Blarneytherinosaur 01:59, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

City loop tram[edit]

During the 1980s a train service called "City Circle" originated at the station. The train serviced all of the City Loop stations before returning to Princes Bridge in a complete circle. It was replaced in 1993 by the world famous "City Circle Tram".

Did the City Circle Tram really replace the City Circle train? Aren't there still trains that only do the City Loop?

Eek![edit]

...Princes Bridge was never originally part of Flinders Street. They were seperate terminus stations for rival railway companies. When both companies sold out to Victorian Railways, there wasn't really a lot of point in maintaining both, and the larger and architecturally superior Flinders Street won out. Gas and Fuel building[edit]

The Gas and Fuel Corporation does not have its own article (maybe that's a bit too obscure), so I'll write this here. There is a picture of the old Gas and Fuel building (before it was demolished) at http://nla.gov.au/nla.pic-vn3409118 . Unfortunately the photo doesn't really show Princes Bridge station properly, as the corner of Flinders and Swanston Streets is obscured by the camera angle.

Also, there is a concreted public space with stairs leading up to it. Does anyone know if it had a name? This is where much of the Federation Square complex sits today, and not really where the Gas and Fuel towers used to be, as I'd previously thought. --ozzmosis 14:52, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah! Here is one of the station entrance prior to demolition - http://nla.gov.au/nla.pic-an20826235-3 . Not much there to see is there? Princes Bridge station history[edit]

On page 14 of http://www.fedsq.com/Docs/FedSq_History.pdf (linked from http://www.fedsq.com/index.cfm?pageID=26 ) there is some more info about the early development of Princes Bridge station, and I think some of it can be used for this article.
