Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because this club is an offical member of the LTA the governing body for the game of tennis in Great Britain and has officially registered and accredited LTA coaches. Secondly this club has historical importance to tennis in the United Kingdom through its hosting of the official ATP events such as the Manchester Open and the Manchester Trophy there is no difference in these clubs and therefore you should consider deleting the following All other Tennis Clubs on Wikipedia. This is a Global English Language Encyclopedia that relies upon Editors with local knowledge to contribute to Wikipedia this club is the oldest Tennis club in Manchester founded in 1879. Secondly I have emailed the club and then telephoned and spoke with the Club Chairman Liz Pardue who has very kindly offered to send me full information to complete the following article Manchester Open. --Navops47 (talk) 12:01, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have also gone through the suggest guidelines and fail to see how this article contravenes those guidelines any more most tennis club articles on wikipedia this club is Offically registered with the UK governing body I will be opening a discussion with Talk:WikiProject_Tennis members for their feedback.--Navops47 (talk) 12:43, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe I was a little trigger happy there, but
  • a lack of capitalisation in the title,
  • an external link to the website in the first sentence,
  • explicitly stating the address in the first sentence, and
  • a list of facilities that reads like an advert
are generally pretty good indicators of spam promoting a non-notable club. Suggest you use the material you gather to improve this article rather than Manchester Open. Bazj (talk) 12:57, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Point 1 Lack of Capitalisation was an over sight and not deliberate, Point 2 ok that can be removed but it was not intended to promote the venue. Point 3 and 4 stating the address and facilities to me was even less than those stated in this article which I took as guideline All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club which clearly states it precise location and its facilties but I understand why you have to consider these things and appreciate you bringing these points to my attention for future reference thank you. --Navops47 (talk) 13:08, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
