Inconsistency[edit]

Vladimir I of Kiev is the predecessor - which is how he styled on the actual wiki article - and that is his proper title as a ruler (his sainthood is a separate issue). I'm changing it.

of Kiev[edit]

if these two were of Kiev, which is today Ukrainian, what is the reason for prioritizing the Russian spelling of their names? --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 01:52, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

WP:COMMONNAME. A quick Google search or search through books for each spelling shows the Russian one is currently prevalent in English. Personally I’d prefer their original Old East Slavic names to either one, but for obvious reasons the English Wikipedia must cater primarily to English speakers. —Vorziblix (talk) 01:26, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
