Singai Govindarasu Ramachandran is an Indian politician from Tamil Nadu, affiliated with All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).[2][3] In March 2016, AIADMK's general secretary and the chief minister of Tamil Nadu J. Jayalalithaa appointed him as the Secretary of the Information Technology Wing of the party.[4] On 27 September 2023, he was appointed as the President of the Information Technology Wing of the party by the party general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

Early life and education[edit]

He did his schooling from Perks Matriculation Higher Secondary School,[5] then went on to earn a diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at PSG Polytechnic College, and subsequently obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) from PSG College of Technology.[6] He worked for three years at Focus Academy for Career Enhancement before joining the IIM Ahmedabad to pursue an MBA in 2013.[7][8] Ramachandran was also active in student politics. He participated in the Students Affairs Council (SAC) election at IIM Ahmedabad and was elected as the general secretary.[9][4]

In an interview with Rediff.com, he said that he joined the party when he was 18.[10]

Career[edit]

On March 23, 2016, Ramachandran was appointed as the secretary of the IT wing of AIADMK by party supremo and Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa.[5] He opted out of placements and started working for party.[2] He went abroad to get trained for his IT wing activities. He has set up E-Sevai centers free of charge for the public at various places in Singhanallur assembly constituency of Coimbatore district.[11]

Under his leadership, the IT Wing contributed to the party's victory in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2016. After the death of CM J.Jayalalitha, he was among the first party secretaries to lend support to the O. Panneerselvam faction.[10][7][12]

In February 2017, he was expelled from the party by V. K. Sasikala for alleged anti-party activities.[13] However, his removal comes after he offered support to O Panneerselvam.[14][15][16]

After the merger of the two factions, he was re-appointed as the AIADMK IT Wing State Secretary.[17][18][19]

He is the son of Singai Govindarasu, who was an MLA in Singanallur from 1991 to 1996.[4]
