Source[edit]

I've removed the request for deletion based on a lack of source. The description clearly states the image was released by the Holloway family, who are the source of the image. You can also find the image online,[1] though that is not a requirement. - auburnpilot talk 14:07, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Main page[edit]

Why isn't this picture on the main page? Simultaneous movement (talk) 02:49, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, fair use images may not be used on the main page. - auburnpilot talk 02:51, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It says "An image to illustrate an article passage about the image, if the image has its own article (in which case the image may be described and a link provided to the article about the image)" is an unacceptable use. I really do not understand what makes including the image with the article passage not fair use, while including it with the full article is. Suppose an article starts out as two paragraphs, with an accompanying image. Later, the article expands to twenty paragraphs, and a two-paragraph passage (consisting of the same text as the original two-paragraph article) is put on a portal with the image. Suddenly it would become no longer fair use? Weird. Simultaneous movement (talk) 13:59, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The problem is that WP:NFCC prohibits fair use images from being used anywhere other than within an article (see WP:NFCC#9). - auburnpilot talk 14:28, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
