Regression line[edit]

How about at least putting a line through this thing?

A regression line would raise issues about causality and correlation, neither of which are germane to the picture. The point is simply to show the historical data. Wikiant 22:39, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

X-axis problem?[edit]

I think there's a problem with the X-axis of the graph. The text suggests that the X-axis is in units of percent while the units of the X-axis instead appear to be ratio of the minimum wage to mean wage.

The text simply says, "an increase in the minimum wage is associated with..." The X-axis is measuring the minimum wage as a percentage of the average hourly wage. What matters (for the purpose of discussing the impact on unemployment) is not the minimum wage per se, but the ratio of min wage to the equilibrium wage (as represented here by the average hourly wage). Technically speaking, the text should say, "an increase in the minimum wage relative to the equilibrium wage is associated with..." While more accurate, such wording will convey less information to the average reader. Wikiant 20:25, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
