OTRS ticket

I'm posting this on behalf of Izzy Lee, whom I contacted in order to obtain a photograph of herself for her article. She has filed a ticket through OTRS and was asked to upload the image, however since she doesn't have an account and I do, I offered to upload the image on her behalf. • @Bluerasberry: I'm not sure what else to put here - Ms Lee sent the image as an attachment to OTRS through her company e-mail account, nihilnoctemgmail.com. It's getting contested now and I want to make sure that it can still be available. Tokyogirl79 (｡◕‿◕｡) 04:53, 27 May 2016 (UTC)
• @Stefan2: This image is one that was donated by the filmmaker herself - I wasn't quite sure how to upload it under these circumstances and Ms Lee does not have an account and figured that it'd be easier for me to upload it since I'm more familiar with the upload process.   • Tokyogirl79, this was marked as unfree, and unfree files like this are not permitted per WP:NFCC#1. It now says that the file is freely licensed, but can you double-check the author field in the information template? It says that the author is Izzy Lee, but this seems to be a photo of Izzy Lee, and it seems unlikely to be a selfie. Therefore, the file information page probably doesn't indicate the correct author/copyright copyright holder. --Stefan2 (talk) 11:31, 27 May 2016 (UTC)

Tokyogirl79 I agree with everything that Stefan2 is saying. As a non-free file, this would not allowed, even as fair use. As a free file, the OTRS permission is in order because the verification we do is confirmation that an email comes from an organization's official website that could plausibly provide a file. It is helpful in these cases to confirm the author, and the release process does not make that easy for either Wikipedians or the person making a release. The common way to do this is to send another email asking, "Can you please confirm that the photographer who took the image transferred the copyright to you? Can you please tell me who or what organization should be credited as photographer?" There is no standard template text for asking that, so these conversations are always difficult.
