Regarding this mosaic depicting Jesus as Sol, the sun god. After doing some research i've come up with a few things. First of all, the picture depicts Jesus as the SON of god, not a SUN god. Second of all, incase your confused, the rays of light coming from his head are metaphoric. They mean the light of God. Infact I think you'll find the entire mosaic is metaphorical. Regarding the horses and the chariot, well, i'm not too sure cause i didn't bother with that, but there is talk of that sort of thing throughout the bible. It may well be however, that the person who designed the mosaic just sort of threw that in there.

Regarding Malachi 3:20 "the Sun of justice with its healing rays" After consulting several pastors on this and being an avid bible reader myself, this isn't a correct interpretation. It is infact, and many bibles spell it this way also, "the SON of justice with HIS healing rays". Incase you didn't guess, the bit about healing rays is metaphorical, and doesn't literally mean 'healing rays of light'. But of course you knew that, right?

When translating the original biblical scriptures from hebrew and greek, words can have multiple meanings. For example, the hebrew for 'tail' can also be hebrew for 'trunk'. It depends what context the word is in and, translating hebrew or greek to english can get a little sticky. Some hebrew words don't exactly exist as far as the english dictionary is concerned. But my interpretations and sources are reliable.
