Greatest extent of the Spanish nation in the Americas[edit]

I noticed that this line does not encompass the area which would eventually be bought by the USA as the Louisiana Purchase. I understand that it was no longer Spanish territory at the time of the Constitution of 1812, and thus that area shouldn't be red on this map, but shouldn't it be behind the "Greatest extent of the Spanish nation in the Americas" line regardless? Or does this rest on some specific meaning of "the Spanish nation" which necessarily would not have ever included that area for some reason? -Rwv37 (talk) 00:49, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
