English: This is an old photo of a Whitehead 1876 torpedo, delivered to the Swedish Navy as the M/76 35 cm torpedo. It is identified in the book Swedish Torpedo 100 Years, 1876-1976, page 13. The Scandinavian Navies apparently received a mix of 35 and 38 cm torpedoes, beginning in 1876. The Swedish Navy got 25 and the Norwegian Navy received another 25. The Danish Navy also had 25 torpedoes in 1876 as part of a combined deal that would spread the price of the Whitehead "secret" between the three navies. |
