Object history
Deutsch: Die Linde im Wappen Werneuchens geht auf ein Siegel aus dem Jahr 1670 zurück. Als Baumart setzte sich im 19. Jahrhundert die Eiche durch. Im Jahr 2000 wurde durch das Landeshauptarchiv von Brandenburg das Führen des Wappens vorläufig untersagt, da ein einzelner Baum kein Unterscheidungsmerkmal zu anderen Wappen darstelle. Bis zur endgültigen Klärung führt die Stadt aus rechtlichen Gründen ein neu entworfenes Wappen. Das heutige Wappen mit dem oben angefügten „Doppelsturzsparren“ in Silber auf grünem Grund, der in seiner Form an den Anfangsbuchstaben des Stadtnamens erinnert, entstammt der Gestaltung des Erfurter Heraldikers Frank Diemar.
