Beschrijving : Vrijdagmiddag, 22 oktober 1948 is de sneltrein Batavia-Bandoeng te 16.50 uur twee kilometer ten zuiden van Poerwakarta, bij Bendoel, ontspoord, doordat de rails over een afstand van twintig meter door een bende terroristen was opgebroken. Onmiddellijk na de ontsporing werd de trein door de met automatische wapens en geweren bemande bende van naar schatting vijftig man, onder vuur genomen, waardoor acht personen werden gedood en drieëntwintig gewond. Doordat met de trein een aanzienlijk aantal militairen meereisde, kon vrijwel onmiddellijk het vuur van de bende worden beantwoord. Hierdoor werd erger voorkomen. Overzicht van de ontspoorde wagons. Het grote lichtgekleurde rijtuig is een nieuwe slaapwagen, pas uit Nederland aangekomen
