Summary

Description
English: The blade is a late-19th to early-20th century Filipino sword, used by the Katipunan, during the 1896-1898 Philippine Revolution, up to perhaps the Philippine-American War.

The wooden scabbard and a leather 'throat' of the scabbard all point to the Visayan origin of the antique sword.

The ferrule is made of brass and the "D" guard is made of iron.

The blade has brass inlays which apparently are anting-anting (talismanic) symbols. Many Filipino freedom fighters during the subject period believed in the powers of their anting-anting.

Overall length: 579 mm (22.8 inches); Blade length: 468 mm (18.4 inches); Maximum blade thickness: 5 mm (3/16 inch)
