Summary

Description
English: When a replication fork encounters DNA damage that is impossible to circumvent, the replisome will stall, i.e. DNA replication stress. This leads to resection of the recently synthesized strands by nucleases and subsequent coating of the single stranded DNA with RPA. This recruits the protein ATRIP, which can act as a scaffold for ATR. Junctions of single stranded and double stranded DNA will specifically recruit TopBP1 through the 9-1-1 complex. TopBP1 will interact with ATR through its AAD and subsequently activate it.
