Summary

Description
English: Third Presbyterian Church, Pittsburgh on Fifth Ave, Shadyside. Designed by Theophilus Parsons Chandler of Philadelphia. Several years earlier than his more famous First Pres downtown. The family resemblence is striking. A new steel tile roof was recently added. Much of the money for its construction was donated by Mary Thaw, of the prominent Pittsburgh family. Because of its distinctive color, it was nicknamed "St Mary's Chocolate Chapel." Chandler designed the Thaw's Gothic Revival residence, Lyndhurst.
